Only people whose names are entered on the Register of Electors can vote at Parliamentary Elections, Local Government Elections and Referendums.
Copies of the Edited Register of Electors for the whole of the Bromsgrove District can be inspected at The Council House, Burcot Lane, Bromsgrove; at Bromsgrove Library, Stratford Road, Bromsgrove; or at Rubery Library, Library Way, Rubery. Copies of the Full Register of Electors can only be inspected at The Council House.
Smaller libraries and local post offices also keep parts of the Edited Register relating to the immediate area.
The Register of Electors is thoroughly updated once a year. Every household receives an electoral registration form and is asked to supply information about who is living at that address on the qualification date of 15th October.
However, smaller updates to the Register also take place every month, so that people who have moved will be able to vote from their new address within a few weeks of moving there. To find out when your form is likely to be processed, see the timetable on the Key Dates and Times page.
It is therefore going to be important that we hear about any changes of address as soon as possible, so that the Register can be kept as up to date as possible. If you want to register at a new address, or if you think that there is another change in circumstances which we should know about, then you will need to fill in a Voter Registration Form.
One of these will be needed from each person who wishes to register.
You can get these forms either by telephoning 01527 881421, 881422 or 881288, or by downloading the form via the link below.
Please note that, if an election date is approaching, we will need to receive the form approximately 6 weeks before polling day in order for your new registration to be valid on election day. If you miss this deadline, you can, however, still vote from your old address, either by going to the polling station for that address and giving your name and your old address to the staff on duty (it does not matter if you do not have your poll card), or by having a postal vote - use the link below to obtain an application form.
If you wish to register as an overseas elector, there is a separate form - use the link which is also listed below.
Additional information about your voting rights, becoming a candidate and more is available from the Electoral Commission.
