Consultation feedback on the Garden Waste Service
Many residents contacted us about the garden waste service changing and gave us their views on what should happen to it. What residents told us…
- Many residents said they would prefer a free service, however this option is not available to us because of the financial pressure the Council is under. By offering an opt in service residents will only pay if the garden waste service is used.
- 61% of responses said they would pay for a garden bin service
- This tells us that although resdients would prefer a free service, they value the collections enough to pay for the benefit of receiving the service.
- Only 5% said they would want more than 1 bin
- Residents have told us that the majority feel 1 bin is sufficient for this service, by offering only 1 bin per property this will also support our waste minimisation aims.
- 77% wished to apply for the garden bin service by post, 14% online and 8% at the Customer Service Centre (These application options have now been set up for residents to apply for the service)
- Home composting and using the Household Waste Recycling Sites were other methods identified by residents for disposing of thier garden waste if they did not want to apply for a garden collection
- Please call 0845 077 0757 to order discounted compost bins.
