Garden Waste Collection FAQ

The Garden Waste Collection Service started again on March 3 2009. This service is for the collection of green garden waste. Please see information below for more information on what you can put in your green bin.

Residents must apply and pay for the service prior to receiving collections; details on how to apply are also listed below. The 9 month service costs £30 and will run until the end of November. Collections will take place on alternate weeks to your grey bin.

Please also note that the £30 charge is a fixed one off payment whether opting in to the service in March or part way through the year.

Answers to some frequently asked questions:-

What can I put in my green bin?

Green Waste Collection Materials

When will the charge apply?

The charge will apply from March 2009

How much does the new service cost?

  • The new service is an annual payment of £30 for a fortnightly collection running from March to November inclusive.
  • For those who apply for the service part way through the year, a payment of £30 will still apply.
  • There will be no concessions given for this service.
  • Refunds will not be given if you vacate your property.

How do I apply?

  • Make an online payment. To do this you will need your unique property reference number (UPRN). For further information on how to apply please visit the garden waste collection registration This is a link to a PDF file. (175.54 KB) page information
  • By calling 01527 881711. Please have your credit or debit card details ready.
  • You can also visit the Customer Service Centre in School Drive, Bromsgrove, to apply in person.
  • You can apply by post (please fill out the form attached in your new kerbside recycling calendar).

How many bins can I apply for?

  • Only one bin per household is allowed.

How do the crews know which bins to collect?

In exchange for £30 payment you will be sent a pack in the post containing:-

  • A letter with details on how to take part in the service
  • An orange sticker

The sticker will inform the collection crew that you have paid for the service. Please ensure that you stick the sticker to the lid of your green bin in the specified location so that it is clearly visible.
Please note that if the sticker is not visible, the bin may not be emptied.

Won’t someone just peel off my sticker and put it on their bin?

The stickers all have a unique number which is recorded against the address it is issued to. This can be used to identify the correct owner.
Peeling the sticker off once in place will render the sticker VOID. If the sticker is placed on another bin this other bin will not be emptied.
When you apply your sticker please make sure it is securely adhered to the lid of your green bin.

What do I do if someone removes my sticker, can I get a new one?

Please call us to inform that your sticker has gone missing. If a VOID mark can be seen on your bin proving the original sticker was once there but is now invalid, you will be issued a replacement sticker.

What do I do if I move house?

If you move house, the bin must stay at the current address and not be transferred to the new property. Please inform us if you move house.

It is available to the public in 40 litre bags (about 25kg) at many of our household waste sites (including Quantry Lane Romsley and the Hanbury site). It is priced at £2 a bag. It is also available in larger bulk quantities and can either collected from Hill and Moor, Pershore or delivery can be arranged. The compost is charged at £2.50 per tonne plus VAT for bulk product, with delivery charge on top. Delivery charges depend on where you are, what quantity is required and what access is like to the delivery point (in relation to vehicle size).
